Studies on the syndrome of chest Bi in « Golden Chamber » of medicine are made from four aspects in this paper. It is believed this syndrome involves both heart and the lungs. Its pathogenesis lies in the weakness of Yang and excess of Yin. Yang here refers to chest yang, including the heart Yang and the Qi, Yin here, phlegm, stagnation of Qi, blood stasis and accumulation of cold. The therapeutic methods of chest Bi in this book are specially studied and the feature of the type of differentiation. The application of herbalist medicine and the therapeutic rules are also summarized.

[STUDY ON SYNDROMES AND TREATMENTS OF CHD FROM « GOLDEN CHAMBER » VIEW]. SUN JINGYING. journal of shandong university of tcm. 1997;21(3):240 (chi*). ref:0
Coronary heart disease CHD), such a name does not appear in TCM, but it can be come under the category of chest hi and cardiac pain. according to  » Golden Chamber ». The main cause of CHD is the deficiency of the vital energy. The deficiency of yang of heart, kidney and spleen are the internal factors of CHD. Excess of pathogenic factors invading, especially the disbalance among viscera cause cold phlegm, blood stasis obstructing the collateral’s of heart are the important conditions of the outbreak of CHD. The pathogenesis above is called « yang deficiency and yin excess » in « Golden Chamber ». Analysis above shows that « deficiency in origin and excess in superficiality » is the trait of the pathogenesis of CHD. It is important to distinguish « Superficiality » from « origin » emergency from chronicity, master the principle of « treating the superficiality (secondary) aspect for emergency, and the origin (primary) aspect for chronicity ». To cure syndrome of « excess in superficiality » should exploit the method of « clearing and eliminating pathologic factors ». The treating principle is to tonify deficiency if necessary, combined with eliminating pathogens, as for the syndrome of « deficiency and excess mixed together ». In brief, the treatments of CHD not only refer to traditional « chest bi and cardiac pain », but also should open up the train of the thought, so as to raise the curative effect of TCM in treating CHD from the angle of the usage of classical prescriptions.

Based on the main contents of the theory of pathogenic factor in « Synopsis of Golden Chamber », the author analyses that such theory inherited and developed that of « Canon of Medicine », as well as enlightened that of « A Treatise on the Three Categories of Pathogenic Factors of Diseases »; so it serves as a link between pas’ and future, and possesses important position in the history of the theory of pathogenic factor of traditional Chinese medicine.

[DISCUSSION ON THE BASIC ACADEMIC THINKING AND THE DIFFERENTIATION OF DISEASES AND SYNDROMES OF SYNOPSIS OF PRESCRIPTIONS OF THE GOLDEN CHAMBER: TO START THE DISCUSSION FROM CHAPTER I OF THE TCM]. ZHANG QINGLING. journal of beijing university of traditional chinese medicine. 1998;21(4):7 (chi*). ref:0
The author holds that the priority should be given to the differentiation and treatment of diseases, not to certain syndromes and formules in the study of the TCM classic, Synopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber (SPGC) . According to the basic theoretical thinking of SPGC, the author is of the opinion that in SPGC, the establishment of the methods for differentiating syndromes is based on the understanding of different diseases; clinical information collected by the four diagnostic methods is first for differentiating diseases and secondly for differentiating syndromes; truly gasping the essence of « treating diseases according to their developing tendency » is only after correctly understanding the relationship between diseases and syndromes.

[A TRIAL TALK ABOUT FOUNDATION,CONTENTS AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE FORMATION OF CLINICAL BASICS OF CHINESE MEDICINE]. SHEN QINGFA. shanghai journal of tcm. 1999;2:40 (chi*). ref:0
In the preliminary analysis and exploration on the subject foundation, subject contents and its significance while three subjects of « Treatise on Cold Damage », « Synopsis of Prescriptions of Golden Chamber » and « Treatise on Febrile Diseases » are merged as a science of clinical basis of Chinese medicine, this article thinks that as a bridge subject to guide the students to shift their study of basic theory to the study of clinical subjects, its consitions have been preliminarily provided. This article suggests that the teaching contents of the related diseases and syndromes in Chinese medicine could be classified into the instruction of this subject. The clinical subjects should be re-arraged by classification of modern diseases and predominantly explained with comprehensive preventive and therapeutic methods of Chinese medicine and pharmacy, in order to avoid unnecessary repetition and intersection among the subjects and for two subject systems to be beneficially separated and linked.

It was revaled that the Genseng used in Zhongjing’s formulas seem to be codonopsis in rather than genseng.

And he holds it’s not the meaning of Zhang Zhongjing translating locations of cardialgia with the pains of stomach of scrobiculus cordis. According to Zhang Zhongjing’s relative original text and the opinions of later doctor’s illustration or practice, the main location of cardialgia lies in breadth of mind.

It is claimed that these Annotations on Synopsis of Jade Book of Golden Chamber written by the Japanese Kitarnura Tadahiro may possibly recover, to a great extent, the original face of jingui (Synopsis of Gloden Chamber) through textual research. This is supported by the author’s own study. It is also held that Kitamura’s expounding on Jingui’s theory is unique, based on his rich medical practice. This is of significant reference value to both clinical practice’ and textual research.
