All therapeutic modalities, including acu-moxibustion, Chinese materia medica, and both acu-moxibustion and Chinese medicament, are all superior than western drugs. The last modality is especially satisfactory due to its safety, free from side effect and stable long-term effect.  [14.12 / rg- 23.11- ]

[REVIEW OF CLINICAL RESEARCHES ON TCM TREATMENT OF GILLES DE LA TOURETTE’S SYNDROME]. LIU BICHEN ET AL. journal of beijing university of tcm. 1996,19(6),2 (chi*).
The authors have reviewed from 3 aspects, the clinical researches on Gilles de la Tourette’s syndrome which in recent years has showed a tendency to increase in morbidity, holding that at present, TCM studies of the syndrome mostly are clinical observations, lacking conclusive studies based on large number of case reports, although TCM treatment of the disease has achieved relatively good results. The authors suggest that in dealing with the disease by TCM, an official TCM term be given, and criteria for making diagnosis and evaluating the treating effectiveness be established.  [14.12 / rg- ]

Objective To investigate the efficacy of earth-reinforcing and wood-reducing acupuncture for treating child Tourette’ s syndrome. Methods Forty-five children with Tourette’ s syndrome were randomly allocated, according to a random number table, to an acupuncture group (23 cases) and a Western medicine group (22 cases) . Points Zhongwan and Siguan were selected in cooperation with acupuncture of other routine points in the acupuncture group. Haloperidol was orally administered for routine treatment in the Western medicine group. Results The cure rate was 65.22% in the acupuncture group and 31.82% in the Western medicine group. There was a significant difference in cure rate between the two groups (P <0.05) . Conclusion Earth-reinforcing and wood-reducing acupuncture has an exact curative effect on child Tourette' s syndrome.  [14.05 / ecr- ]
