Fang Yunpeng (1909-)

Fang Yunpeng was born in Huaiyang County, Henan Province, in 1909. He graduated from Henan Medical College in 1936. In his early period, he did Western surgery. Since 1948, he studied traditional Chinese acupuncture by himself. He attend­ed a refresher course of acupuncture held by the Ministry of Public Health of the Central Government in 1952. In October, 1958, the paper The Trial Use of Acupuncture Instead of Analgesics and Cardiotonic was published in the Journal Health Communi­cation in Xian, and The Perpetual Calender of Acupuncture, Acupuncture Calender, Ziwuliuzhu, Linggui Eight Methods Circular Clock Table and Its Applications were printed afterwards. The Perpetual Calender of Acupuncture was edited into BASIC II Programme, and put into the microcomputer. Dr. Fang treated diseases by combining traditional Chinese medicine with Western medicine. He has researched a new acupunc­ture method—"Scalp Acupuncture," and published a book on it. Now he is a professor of the Acupuncture Department of Xian Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and deputy president of the Acupuncture Association of Shaanxi Province.
