HE PUREN

He Puren (1926-)

He Puren, a native of Laishui County, Hebei Province, was born in 1926. At the age of fourteen he began to learn acupuncture from Niu Zehua, a famous acupuncture specialist. Eight years later he practised acupuncture by himself. In 1956 he went to work in the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and in 1976 he joined the medical group to work in the Upper Volta. He was awarded a knight medal for his devoted service to the local people by the President of that country. His works include Acupuncture Techniques, Pain Treated by Acupuncture, A Study of Points, etc. Now he is one of the members of the standing committee of the Beijing Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Director of the Acupuncture Commission and Vice-Chairman of the China Acupuncture Society.
