Lou Baiceng (1913-)

Lou Baiceng was born in 1913 in Zhuji County, Zhejiang Province. In 1930, he entered the Zhejiang Special School of Traditional Chinese Medicine and graduated in 1935. In 1947 he moved to Hangzhou where he started his private practice. In 1956 he was employed by the Zhejiang Provincial Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Lou has been engaged in traditional Chinese medicine for more than fifty years and devoting himself to the study of acupuncture and internal medicine of traditional Chinese medicine. He has especially original views of various acupuncture techniques. In 1980, he cooperated with the Zhejiang Computer Research Institute, his acupuncture clinical experience was put into the computer and then applied in clinical practice. This success has won the third prize in scientific research on the provincial level. He has published over thirty treatises and has successively held the posts of research fellow and the director of the Acupuncture Research Section of the Zhejiang Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Materia Medica, is chairman of the Zhejiang Acupuncture Society, and member of the All-China Acupuncture Asso­ciation and member of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Branch of All-China Acupuncture Association.
