Ou Ming (1924-)

Ouming (1924.12— ),male, comes from Guangdong Shunde and is a lifelong Professor of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. Prof. Ou graduated from Medicine school of Lingnan University. He has been the director of the internal medicine staff room of Guangzhou college of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the chairman of the accessorial hospital, the vice-section chief of the educational administration, the vice-dean, the superintendent of the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology. Besides, he was once the vice-director of the committee learning about diseases of blood vessels of heart of the Institute of the Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd chairman of Guangdong Institute of the Integrated of Chinese and Western Medicine. Now, Prof. Ou is a Ph. D. instructor, the editor of <Traditional Chinese Drug Research & Clinical Pharmacology>, the honorary director of Guangdong Institute of the Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine and the consultant of the committee learning about diseases of blood vessels of heart of the Institute of the Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine. In 1990, he enjoyed the special subsidy of the government.<br /> Prof. Ou’s main field of research is in the clinical practice and experimental research of using integrated Chinese and Western medicine to cure diseases of blood vessels of heart. He has once been responsible for the “Clinical Studies in Ilexonin on the Treatment of Chronic Congestive Heart Failure” (Key Technologies R&D Program) and “The Molecular Biology Basic of Aesthetic syndrome” and other national and provincial research tasks. Moreover, he has been responsible for the research program titled <Using Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine to cure diseases of blood vessels of heart> as the group leader. Prof. Ou has also published more than ten treatises and more than 20 science theses and many of these researches and treatises won national and provincial Science and Technology Advancement Awards. Since 1978, he has instructed 20 Masters and Doctors, 17 of which has already graduated. Having been invited, Prof. Ou has visited University of Toronto, McMaster University, Washington University and Philadelphia University since 1985, communicating the learning. In 1992, he was engaged by WHO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific as the consultant of the conference for formulating “the rules of appraising the security and the validity of herbal medicine” and worked on finalizing the final version of this guidance principle.
