Shao Jingming (1911-)
Shao Jingming, a native of Xihua County, Henan Province, was born in February of 1911. He studied TCM from a famous veteran doctor Guo Yuhuang and started to practise medicine in 1932. In 1935, he attended the acupuncture correspondence course sponsored by acupuncturist Cheng Dan’an in Wuxi. From 1937 tp 1951, he practised medicine by setting up a clinic called the Crane Longevity Hall. In August, 1954, he transferred to a municipal hospital where he served as doctor of internal medicine and acupuncturist. In 1968, he was a teacher in Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He took part in compiling the second and third edition of the textbook Acupuncture and Moxibustion for the national medical colleges. He has published twenty-nine principal theses and articles, including the Clinical Observation and Experiment Research on Acupuncture Treatment of Asthma, which won the third prize as the Excellent Thesis in 1982. Now, Shao is chief physician in Henan College of TCM, a board member of the China Acupuncture Association, and chairman of the Henan Acupuncture Society.
