Xu Benren (1928-)

Xu Benren, a native of Changtu County, Liaoning Province, was born in 1928. He graduated from the Harbin Medical University in 1950 and served as a doctor of Western school of medicine. From 1958 to 1961 he studied Chinese medicine at the Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Then in 1962 he began to walk as a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine in the Shenyang Air Force Hospital. He shows great interest in acupuncture and a book entitled Quick Needling Technique was written by him. Another book Clinical Acupuncture was written by him together with Ge Shuhan. He has written more than thirty papers, among which the Observa tion of 225 Cases of Primary Trigeminal Neuralgia by Acupuncture won the first prize of Air-Force Scientific Achievements in 1982. He has developed an apparatus known as the Portable Electric Fire Needle in 1983. Now he is a member of council of the China Acupuncture Association, Director of the Army Acupuncture Therapeutic Group, Member of the Air-Force Health Committee, Director of the Acupuncture Department at the Shenyang Air Force Hospital.
