Yan Dinglang (1924-)
Yan Dingliang, a native of Pinghu County, Zhejiang Province, was born in a famous acupuncturist family in September 1924. From 1941 to 1944, he studied in the Shanghai School of Chinese Medicine. After graduation he began his private practice following his father in Pinghu County. In 1954, he opened an acupuncture department in the Provincial Hangzhou Hospital (the former Provincial Chinese Medical Hospital). In 1958, he was transferred to undertake acupuncture education in the Medical Cadre Training School of Jiaxing District. In 1962 he was transferred to Jiaxing Second Hospital. ‘He has compiled Brief Introduction of Yan’s Suppurating Moxibustion in Pinghu, Acupoint Selection and Application of Acupuncture Tonic Therapy, A Talk on Moxibustion, Twelve Principles of Penetrating Puncture, Reading Notes on’ Yang’s Moxibustion and other theses. At present he is a deputy-chief doctor of the Acupunc­ture Department in the Chinese Medical Hospital of Zhejiang Province and in the Hospital Affiliated to the Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
