Yuan Jiuling
Yuan Jiuling, a native of Qingpu County, Shanghai, was born in a well-known family which practised traditional Chinese medicine. He loved Chinese medicine since childhood and at the age of twenty he started learning acupuncture from his mother. In 1956 he was idmitted to the advanced acupuncture class for teachers of the Jiangsu School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (the predecessor of the Nanjing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine). Afterwards he worked as a teacher and acupuncturist at the school. He joined the group to compile textbooks of acupuncture and has been invited to present lectures and give treatment in Poland, Thailand, the Philippines and Japan. He was invited to attend the Seventh World Acupuncture Conference held in Sri Lanka in 1981, on which he made a presentation about the Midnight-Noon Ebb and Flow. Now he is an associate professor and the deputy-director of the Teaching Section in the Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center.
