Yuan Shuo (1934-)
Yuan Shuo, a native of Shenyang, was born in October 1934. At the age of nineteen he was admitted to the Department of Medicine, Beijing Medical College. In 1958 after graduation he began to work as a pediatrist in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Beijing Medical College. Meanwhile, he started learning Chinese medicine from Jiao Yongqun. His diagnosis is usually made by a Western approach with differentiation of syndromes guided by traditional Chinese medicine, and selection of points according to the meridians. Since May 1969 he has done acupuncture therapy. His works include A Dictionary of Chinese Medicine and Herbs (acupuncture section), Selected Proved Recipes for the Common Cold and Bronchitis. In the past twenty-eight years he had served as a teacher at the Beijing Medical University (the former Beijing Medical College). Now he is an associate professor in medicine.
