Zhang Jin (1930-)
Zhang Jin was born in Heishan County, Liaoning Province, in September, 1930. He graduated from the China Medical University in 1951 and has been engaged in teaching, practice and research of acupuncture and moxibustion for thirty years. He has been studying needling manipulations, meridians, and literature. In cooperation with others, he invented the acoustoelectric needle, the electric blunt needle, acoustoe­lectric blunt needle and the thermo-electric blunt needle. He emphasized the impor­tance of qi reaching the affected area and method to raise the rate of qi reaching the affected area. He has proven the existence of latent propagated sensation and its theoretical significance. He has published more than sixty papers and he has won eight scientific awards. Now he is a professor and president of Heilongjiang Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a member of the Professional Group of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the State Scientific and Technological Committee, a member of the Medical Science Committee of the Ministry of Public Health and permanent member of the China Acupuncture Association.
