It has long been recognized that Wu Jutong compiled Wen king tiao bian in the year 1798. Through study on the printing time of the hook, prefaces in the book written by Zhu Bin and Zheng Bao, and the contents of the hook, it is claimed that the book was written in 1798, and by then his work was not yet finished. The first manuscript was completed in 1804, finalised and printed in 1813. The chapter of " Supplemented discourse 011 predominant qi of autumn dryness" was written in 1835, while Pill (thunderbolt) powder and its description were supplemented in 1836. In other words, the compilation of the whole work, from writing to finalised first manuscript, lasted for 15 years, and that for the completion of the whole book, 38 years.

[[THE INHERITANCE AND DEVELOPMENT OF SHANG HAN LUN (TREATISE ON COLD PATHOGENIC DISEASES) IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF WU JOLENE’S WEN BING TIAO BIAN (TREATISE ON DIFFERENTIATION AND TREATMENT OF SEASONAL WA HUANG HAI. chinese journal of medical history. 2002;32(1):36 (chi*).
Wu Jutong is regarded as one of the master figures in the school of seasonal warm diseases. In his representative work Wen bing tiao bian ( Treatise on Differentiation and Treatment of Seasonal Warm Diseases), he was not only an expert in adopting and adjusting classical prescriptions, but also good at treating diseases by using warm – hot drugs. On the other hand, Treatise on Differentiation and Treatment of Seasonal Warm Diseases makes up some deficiencies and thus perfects Shanghan lun (Treatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases). So it is a fact that Wu Jutong inherited and developed Zhongjing’ s doctrine.
