Li Ding (1935-)

An internationally recognized authority on Chinese Traditional Medicine WM), ProfessorLi Ding has 30 years of research and clinical practice in the field. On the faculty of Shanxi Medical College, from which he graduated in 1960, he was born in China’s Henan Province in 1935. He serves on the Board of Directors of the All-China Society of Acupuncture and Moxibustion; as vice-director and vice secretary general of the Shanxi Society of Acupuncture and Moxibustion; executive member of the board of directors of the Taiyuan Society of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, and president of the Qigong Society of Shanxi Medical College. In 1985 he was honoured with the National Wu Yi (May Day) Labor Medal, and is the recipient of other awards both for teaching excellence and scientific research. Using TCM as his main approach, Professor Li Ding combines TCM with Western medicine in disease treatment and prevention. Drawing on his clinical and research experience, he has published widely on acupuncture and moxibustion, Chinese pharmacology, and qigong, including A Collection of XM Clinical Experience, Jianmei Jing Luo Tuo (Sketches of Meridians for Fitness), and Meridian Qigong. The Dictionary of Acupuncture and Meridian Points, of which he is a major editor, has been heralded as an epoch-making reference for acupuncture and meridians. He has conducted international short-term training sessions in meridian qigong for doctors from Great Britain, West Germany, the United States, Norway, India, Singapore, and Belgium, and has lectured many of these nations as well as Italy and Canada.
