Tian Conghuo (1927-)
Tian Conghuo, a native of Jinzhou, Liaoning Province, was born in 1927. After he graduated from the Chinese Medical College in 1951, he acknowledged Zhu Ilan and Gao Fengtong as his masters in the Acupuncture Experimental Institute of the Ministry of Public Health in 1952. He became a teacher of the South-China Training Course for Teachers of Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Wuhan in 1953. He has been engaged in acupuncture clinical practice, teaching and research for more than thirty years, emphasizing ‘the combination of acupuncture, moxibustion, herbs and massage in his clinical practice. The adhesive plaster for relieving asthma made by Tian and his colleagues achieved the research prize of the Ministry of Public Health. He has published more than thirty treatises, among which some of them were published in foreign countries. His works include Experiences in Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Essentials of Chinese Moxibustion. Now he is a research fellow in the Second Clinical Institute of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a member and vice-secretary-general of the Standing Committee of China Society of Acupuncture.
