Zheng Yulin (1896-1967)

Dr. Zheng Yulin (1896-1967) was from Beilou Village, Anguo County of Hebei Province. From his boyhood, he began to learn medicine and acupuncture from his uncle. As a disciple, he learned medicine from Dr. Cao Shunde and later from Dr. Huo Laoshun who was very good at acupuncture and qigong. In 1953, together with his eldest son, he opened an acupuncture clinic in Beijing. He was invited as an acupuncturist by the North China Research Institute in 1954. From October of that year until his death, he was the director of the third research division of the Acupunc­ture Institute, China Academy of the Traditional Chinese Medicine. Many famous doctors, such as Zheng Kuishan, Li Zhiming, Shang Guyu, Wang Deshen, Wu Xijing, Yang Renping, Wei Mingfeng, Jin Renqi, took him as their teacher. With their help, Dr. Zheng had more than ten papers published, such as The Observation of the Therapeutic Effect on Treating the Retinal Vitreous Hemorrhage, which was given an award in 1958 by the Ministry of Public Health and The Summary of Therapeutic Effect on 102 Cases of Bi-Syndrome Treated by the Heat-Reinforcing and Cold-Reducing Method.(source : Essentials of Contemporary Chinese Acupuncturist Clinical Experience.
